Follow These Instagrammers for Information and Inspiration

Instagram is a great *free* tool for finding travel tips, community and incredible destinations. This is a list of the best travel instagram accounts we’ve found that will help you along your adventure.

Of course, yours truly is on instagram at @ribbitandco with campfire cooking recipes, hiking info and stories of living in a teardrop camper.

P.S. We collected 42 MORE of our favorite travel instagrammers. See Part 2 here

Public Lands Instagram Accounts

if you’re adventuring around the US, these are the Instagram accounts that promote and protect the majority of public land that you’ll visit. We’ve gotten so much great intel from these accounts, from dog-friendly hikes, to newly appointed monuments to tracking the path of the California superbloom.

  • @nationalparkservice *
  • @mypubliclands
  • @usinterior
  • @u.s.forestservice
  • @vivahikevegas or @visitsouthernidaho **

*it’s also really useful to follow the specific parks you’re interested in. For example, we follow accounts like @archesnps and @yosemitenps (look for the verification check for the official account)

**don’t forget about state parks and local tourism boards. They may be public or backed by a not-for-profit but either way they impart so much information.

Best Outdoor & Travel Org Accounts

These are some of the organizations and periodicals that we follow to find outdoorsy news and current events. We also get a ton of great hiking tips for lesser known hiking areas in North America.

Best Travel Blogger Instagram Accounts

I’m using the term “blogger” here very loosely. These are the personal instagram accounts of a few really cool travelers from all over the world. I’m allergic to flying dress photos and vapid “not all who wander are lost” type accounts, so these are the best actually useful and fun travel accounts I’ve found.

  • @eagertravele
  • @karl_shakur
  • @mylesherdman
  • @themomtrotter
  • @travelwithmariasoomro

Travel Inspired Artists on Instagram

And because of my background, of course I need to give a shout out to some of the best artists we follow on instagram. No one is mad at a feed full of beautiful photographs of the natural world, but the only thing that can make it better is seeing the sights through the eyes of these talented makers.

  • @rayco.design
  • @kelleyvivianart
  • @landandshestudio
  • @samlarson
  • @littletinyegg
